Emily C Actually your comparison is a little off. It wasn't two factions fighting for dominance. The "global cooling" (looming ice age) people were and are the same people that became the "global warming" people. Then they morphed into the "climate change" people. In other words, they're all the same leftists, they just change their name when their predictions start to be debunked.

@garyfrancis6193 It was actual school teachers teaching us to not use gas or oil. Kind of exactly like they're doing now. Only in the 70's, it was because of "the coming ice age". Then it went to "global warming". Now it's "climate change". The point is, the left will use any scientific findings to gain more power and control over the populace, and to advance their agenda. And yes, the media is part of the left.

@thulyblu5486 If the world is slightly less nice "on average"- how do you quantify average? The most currently populated areas? It stands to reason that if the "average" places become slightly less nice, then some other areas will become nicer. Maybe Canada and North Dakota will become lush areas full of nutritional crops!

@jimmyfortrue3741 I'm evidently around the same age as you because I was taught that in school, too. In a way, they did blame us, though, because they told us it was our use of gas and oil. We were to scold our parents if they drove the car too much, or turned the home heat up too warm. We were even given little stickers to put on our light switch plates that had little saying on them to conserve energy. One I remember was a graphic "Outen the light".
