@wideawakerealist2141 I believe that there is quite a difference between independent businesses that flourish and selfish capitalism that benefits the few. The argument for capitalism is that it provides work and boosts the economy but when it becomes greedy this does not happen. Like all "isms" it is easily corrupted.

@BLUESKY-zt1nv Bet you have a powerful right wrist?

@antonichristian5845 Who voted for the government that sold off our publicly owned assets? Greedy people who thought they were going to benefit and now many are realising the error.

It is impossible to help everyone who is unlucky without helping those who do not try to help themselves!

Looks like the standard of living you quote for the US in the 90s was way better than in the UK! - our average wage was way less. Over here (UK) people have got used to things being really cheap and that is unsustainable, and it is now catching up with us. Ordinary people think nothing of having a 40 or 50 inch TV, regardless of how stupid it looks in a small house or the fact that it actually makes viewing worse. The same goes for many things bought cheaply from the far east.

@Ahmed-dx9in Looks like I put the comment on the wrong place! - LOL.

@Ama Daetz The answer is pretty simple then, do your best to become one of the beneficiaries of those "pals" or encourage and help your kids to. They tried to get rid of those people in Russia by revolution and have just ended up in the same situation. If the poorer people in the world set out to reduce their numbers drastically there would be less poverty in the world. This would then mean that there were less poor people for the wealthy to exploit. There would also be many other benefits to mankind and the planet in general!

@rustylocks9264 Do you want to become like Russia or maybe like the US, both countries that make our wealth gap seem pathetic. In Florida, beach front properties can be worth millions but go back 2 or 3 streets and people are living in little more than wooden sheds, barely scraping a living. There is no perfect solution in this world unless you want to live under an extreme dictatorship (that chap back in 1930s Germany was starting to make things better for many ordinary, decent people!). The only solution is to stop blaming everyone else and make things better for yourself (worked for me and my siblings! )

@sonyasmith1991 I have, very clearly elsewhere.

@RedEyeification They might not be poor now, but many businesses were started by very ordinary people. As for the fishermen, maybe you should talk to some who are just about scratching a living from it?
1
@RedEyeification Funny you should say that, look into the history of Frederick Savage of Kings Lynn for a Victorian example. Then consider my step son, not well educated but very clever with his hands and hard working. He now has his own engineering business that is very heavily in demand.
1
By the way, the lad started with just the tools he had put together while working for others.
1
@RedEyeification then by your own reckoning you must be filthy rich and not care about the poor?
1
@RedEyeification Which "god" is that, and how many children does he have?
1
@tessellatiaartilery8197 The so called reality TV programmes make their money from idiots who would be much better off spending it on important things!
1
@rayhill5767 Have you always been paranoid, or is it a recent thing?
1
@RedEyeification But surely, God didn't marry so that makes all those "children" b'tards?
1
@squiddyfan1165 £12 million was the figure someone quoted earlier. So if we say there are 24 million people paying taxes, then it is only 50p each?
1
Unless people who care try to get into politics and come up with a different way then nothing will change. There is no ideal solution and never has been and never will be. The only way is to try and make things better for yourself (hopefully not in a selfish way!) and your family.

Too much of "the meek shall inherit the earth" and more of God helps those who help themselves?
1
Allah is certainly helping many people in many parts of the country!

@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool Central France can get pretty cold in winter and that is a long way south.
