  1. making the world safe for politicians has nothing to do with democracy. democracy is direction of the society by referendum, under the control of the electorate by initiative. you don't have democracy at the national level. since about half the states have some or all of the attributes of democracy, you can't plead ignorance. you are not citizens of a democracy, for lack of self-respect. or, more likely, out of contempt for others. either way, oligarchs run the place, and pretending otherwise will not save you from the next tyrant. trump was notably incompetent. he only came to power because the charade you call 'democracy' was so degenerate that the politicians thought they could stroll into office without effort or plan. the next one will be tougher.
