  1. if you had democracy, this question would be silly. but you have an elective oligarchy, which happens to be a functional plutocracy. politicians rule, oligarchy, there is voting, which has no effect on national policy, and nothing happens that irritates the rich. plutocracy. you deserve no better. politics is the exercise of power inside a society, and if the people are unable to control the government, it is because they are ignorant, or fearful. democracy needs citizen-quality people, armed, organized and willing to shoot a few politicians who get above themselves. in a real democracy, of course, there are no politicians. they're extinct. the public service runs the nation, under direction of referendum and initiative. but you just are not at that level of evolution. pity, it's no fun, being a serf.
