  1. guns are not the problem - they have lots in switzerland, and few shootings. the lack of democracy is part of the problem. another part is slavery, and its continuing consequences. usa got off to a horrible start, and has what amounts to national insanity. incurable, since usa is too powerful to listen to anyone else. perhaps the looming impoverishment of the nation will unleash fresh thinking, but i doubt it, and there is time pressure too - usa is a large part of the climate crisis, and may destroy our environment before they break free of the grip of the rich.
