  1. one consequence of living in an oligarchy is a submissiveness in the general population to the activities of the ruling group. not merely physical, their 'doings' are like the weather, uncontrollable and often unpredictable. the usual response is to ignore 'them,' as much as possible. usa is nothing like a democracy. it's people are not active in management of the nation. they more resemble the commoners of medieval times. so i call it 'elective aristocracy.' appropriate because politicians have evolved from the ruling aristocrats, who in turn come from the warlords of post-hastings britain. why then is 'democracy' part of usa chatter? why do you commonly hear 'we are losing our democracy,' when you never had it?
