i have no respect for fdr. he was the best on offer, but i came across a history document, of a conversation with fdr, in which someone made the suggestion that the time was right, to introduce constitutional amendments establishing democracy, and the aristocrat/politician dismissed the suggestion with a single sentence., 'no, that's too much.' but it froze my politician-meter on the 'just another parasite' mark.
and now? it was always too late for the usa. the general level of political literacy remains low, the character of the people is stunted by growing up 2nd class. the only change will be by coup, which can never be good.
the tell-tale is the feeling, "we need a leader like fdr..."
you really need someone better than that, by far. god might fail, with only americans to work with.
what you need is a wide-spread feeling that, together, we are better than any politician. you never hear that.
