Ethiopia has 70-80% of africas mountains the heart lands of Ethiopia are basically a giant fort and its a really big country its like twice the size of texas in ower time line and in this time line Ethiopia is even bigger so i doubt the Portuguese have a chance to conquer it they will get lost in the mazo of mountains or something

Ethiopians are genetically speaking a mix of three groups namely native east African hunter gatherer, natufian(levantine origin) and early iron age southarabian none of these groups developed an immunity against malaria while Bantus and other groups did , even the native component was mountain dwellers unconditioned to tropical life .

Somaloa had support to and no Ethiopia had support only two times in the war with Somalis one with the Portuguese and one with the Soviets and fyi Somalis wouldn't even exist if axum never fell itnwas an empire that destroyed nubia,fought amd won several wars with Persia and had absolute control over the red sea and muxh of the indian ocean
