@alexeisinitsa The impression I got watching the video yesterday was Drac was thinking in terms of a repeat of Vanguard; pulling the entire turrets off the old ships and installing them on the new. I foresee issues with that. iirc, the Courageouses were laid up shortly after WWI, then converted to carriers in the late 20s, so their turret mechanisms had minimal wear on them. The Erebus class monitors spent much of the interwar years as gunnery training ships. Marshal Ney also spent significant time as a training ship. I wonder what condition those turrets were in. The turrets, mounts and hoists in the Rs were heavily worn from decades in service. If you look at how much work was put into updating the turrets for Vanguard, without the wear issues, I start to wonder if it was worth it. I figure the more likely scenario would be the Lions would begin construction with three triple turrets, in the expectation that the 16" would be sorted out by the time the ships were ready for them. When the 16" falls behind schedule, then the mounts in the Lion's turrets would be modified to take 15"/42s, because they are available.
