Hey there!
Wow, first off, let me thank you for taking the time to do such thorough research on grocery prices in Greece. It's no small task and I genuinely appreciate your effort. Your selection of products seems pretty fair to me and provides a good basis for comparing food prices between Russia and Europe.
I'm always looking for ways to provide a more complete picture, and having direct input from viewers like you makes a big difference. In fact, your comment got me thinking - I've been planning to interview several people across Europe for an upcoming video to explore how their lives have changed after the sanctions (think inflation, food prices, gas prices, etc.).
How would you feel about being part of this project? Your input could be incredibly valuable. If you're interested, please shoot me an email at 1359RealReporter@gmail.com, and we can chat more about it.
Thanks again for your amazing work, and looking forward to hopefully hearing from you!

Hey Johnny! I appreciate your levelheaded feedback and am glad to hear you find my content valuable. That said, I think we both know that Ryan didn’t actually mean I’m paid by "KGB priests." However, I respect that you’re sticking up for a fellow creator. St. Basil's Cathedral is indeed an iconic image of Russia, and I understand that it all looks the same through a Western lens, but it’s akin to referring to the French Government while showing the Moulin Rouge, or the Chinese government and showing the Great Wall.
Lastly, regarding the soft propaganda argument—I totally see where it’s coming from, but it's still too presumptive. I mean, someone might argue that you're engaging in soft propaganda too since you report from Ukraine. And "we also know" if you were more critical of Zelensky and the Ukrainian government, you might end up like Gonzalo Lira.
Of course, I don’t for a second think that you’re on the Ukrainian government’s payroll, or that anyone dictates your reports. I see you as simply striving to uncover and share compelling stories, adding real value for your audience - much like all of us in this field. Keep up the fantastic work, and let’s keep bringing those important stories to life 🤝

@AniMageNeBy Hey hey, great to hear from you!
Yes, the video we've discussed at length is finally live! Thanks again for suggesting the idea. Honestly, I thought accessing an aviation plant was a lost cause, but you were right - it was worth a shot, and here we are! The video is performing well, although I don't think it'll surpass my latest car video. But that's okay.
Regarding the MS-MC confusion, these are Cyrillic letters used in the plane's name and they are pronounced 'MS' in Russian, similar to ИЛ-96 (IL-96). I could have westernized the pronunciation to 'MC' (AM-SEE), but I chose to keep it authentically Russian, just like I do with street and city names in Russia. I've heard others refer to it as 'MS' on YouTube and in other reports, so I went with that. Apologies for any confusion; it wasn’t intentional.
You're right; the MC-21 isn't the only aircraft project Russia is working on. There are the Sukhoi SuperJet, Tu-204, and IL-96-400. I could have mentioned them briefly, but I need to be mindful of video length -I tend to make them longer than necessary, and the MC-21 video is already 23 minutes long. Say, keeping it to 15-16 minutes could have saved three-four days of work. Also, sponsorship integrations now require a lot of negotiation and re-edits, and that means more time. Also, when I cover the MC-21 or a Russian airport, I provide exclusive details and add my own insights. If I covered all these other aircraft, it might feel like just adding information from a Wikipedia page - nothing unique. But perhaps I could've explained in the video that there are other Russian planes too, and that I'm just focusing on one in particular for a reason...
There’s no official timeline for when the MC-21 might enter mass production. They aim to produce 270 MC-21s by 2030, though it won’t be easy as deadlines have already been pushed back several times. I learned at the plant that testing a new aircraft is incredibly time-consuming and the main bottleneck. Just imagine this - you make new aircraft windscreens, then you have to run multiple tests in various weather conditions. These tests often reveal initial problems, and then you need to fix them and run more tests, over and over again. And this applies to every single new component in the MC-21. Developing new aircraft is a process spanning decades, not years as they explained to me
By the way, that new Chinese plane, the C919, isn’t 100% Chinese either. It uses American engines, much like the initial design of the MC-21. And I'm sure China will focus on their domestic market first before exporting. And even if they start exporting to Russia, the US might step in and throw a wrench into the process. Nah, I think creating a homegrown passenger jet has been a long time coming...
Anyway, thanks a lot for your feedback and support. It's always a pleasure chatting with you and it means the world to me! Stay tuned for future episodes and have a great week!

It's really intriguing, isn't it? Back in Russia, the narrative suggests that Bakhmut was a meat grinder because of the large number of Ukrainian troops sent there like lambs to the slaughter. However, in Ukraine (and perhaps in Europe too), they believe it's the other way around. It's a testament to how effective propaganda can be on all fronts, and how easy it is for folks to swallow it hook, line, and sinker. When confronted with an honest, unbiased analysis, it can be a real eye-opener, but not always in a comfortable way. Kind of like living on a diet of junk food and then finally being served a salad, only to find it "doesn't taste right". Just goes to show, truth can sometimes be a tough pill to swallow! LOL.

Hey there! It’s always a pleasure to see your thoughtful comments. My ideological journey?... I'd say I started off quite rebellious and liberal during my student years, and then gradually shifted towards a more conservative viewpoint as life introduced a family, a mortgage, and plenty of adult responsibilities. These things really do change your perspective a bit, doesn't it? Haha
I really hope this family finds their footing nicely in Russia. The initial warm reception surely played a role, but starting anew in a foreign country is never easy—especially with eight kids! But I believe they have the spirit and determination to achieve what they hope for. They've certainly done their homework before boarding that plane.
As for the future of the channel, I'm taking a few days to sit down and brainstorm the next steps. It feels like maybe it’s time to innovate and play around with new formats. I’m currently considering a few ideas, including a weekly overview of the latest news from Russia, maybe challenging myself to 'survive 24 hours in Moscow’s toughest neighborhood, or perhaps conducting social experiments like tracking a set of grocery items for 3-6 months to see if the government’s inflation data holds true. I’d love to hear any suggestions you might have—I'm open to ideas at this point!
Once again, thanks for your engagement and support. It truly enriches our community

Hey, my friend!
Yes, I wanted to keep the momentum going with this video. Although my last video on economics didn’t do as well, I figured food prices might grab more interest since it's something we all deal with daily. Food inflation is hitting everywhere, after all. The first 24 hours didn’t show strong numbers, but there's potential for this video to pick up steam later. Plus, it was cost-effective to produce - just some shopping and editing on my end :)
About young people returning after fleeing mobilization: I've heard similar stories. None of my close friends or acquaintances left the country, so I can’t share personal experiences. However, I’ve learned that many have either returned or continued to work remotely for Russian companies, contributing to the economy from afar. Still, the workforce shortage remains. After the Crocus City attack, labor migrants are being closely watched, and the government is tightening the rules on Russian citizenship, so relying on labor migration isn't a quick fix. What Russia really needs is a boost in productivity - getting more done with fewer people. That would require significant investment in technology, which takes time.
Chinese cars and aviation are definitely on my radar. I want to dive deep into those topics before filming anything substantial.
Thanks again for your support and for tuning in!

I’ve already done this in a short format. Haven’t gotten a lot of traction, though, so I decided not to invest time into a full episode…
I know I post little, but, man, I’ve got so many videos coming up. The story of an Australian family living in Siberia is coming out this Saturday. Then, I have a crazy video from Vorkuta, ‘Russia’s most depressing town’ in the Arctic Circle. Then, the ‘Cocky Lawyer’ is back in town and we’ve been hanging out for the past couple of days. It would be interesting to see how this war changed him after 1,5 years… So, there’s a lot going on, I hope I can produce all this content fast enough so it stays relevant
Anyway, thanks for stopping by. You’re the first one I shared my future plans with. I think I should make a community post sometime this week 🤔
How was the island trip? :)

@AniMageNeBy Hey!
Thanks so much for tuning in and for the donation. Your support is always deeply appreciated!
I apologize for missing your comment on YouTube. For some reason, I couldn’t find it by your name through the YouTube search tool. But thankfully, when it's a reply to my comment, I get a notification. Anyway, I'm glad you have my email, so you can always reach out directly.
About the car prices, you’re right - it’s more complex than just brand competition. Many viewers mentioned in the comments that prices for Chinese cars are similar in other foreign markets like Turkey and Brazil. So, it doesn't seem like the Chinese are necessarily price gouging in Russia since we see higher prices for these brands across various markets. There's a lot that goes into it.
Regarding electric vehicles, the infrastructure in Moscow is developing quickly. There are at least four charging stations near where I live. However it's still not as convenient as having a personal charging spot at home or in your parking lot. For now, driving an EV is more feasible within city limits like Moscow, and yes, the cost is still a barrier. EVs are more for enthusiasts at this point, but let’s see how the landscape changes.
And Mikhail! He does have a bit of a young Van Damme vibe, doesn’t he? I was fortunate that he reached out and was willing to share the details of his business on camera in English, which saved me a lot of time with subtitles :)
Thanks again for your thoughtful insights and the "coffee" donation. Looking forward to more discussions on upcoming videos!
Best regards,
Kostya

These are legitimate concerns, so let me answer. Filming inside enlistment offices without permission nearly impossible, you’re right. However, there are several centers in Moscow that are frequently showcased in the local media and therefore easier to access. They’ve been set up inside non-military locations: museums, theaters, public institutions in addition to typical draft centers to cope with amount of new recruits. They did the same thing during the Pandemic to boost the vaccination effort, so this isn’t new. Anyway, my best chance to get in and speak with the mobilized was to visit one of the “media friendly” centers in central Moscow which I did. I’m aware that the majority of enlistment offices in Russia doesn’t look like the one I visited. I’m sure they look worse, which I explicitly mentioned in the video. But my goal was to talk with draftees, so I took a shot. I never spoke English with anyone inside the draft office, I spoke Russian which is my first language. I only spoke English on camera.
Hope this answers your questions and thanks for watching the video 👍

Hey there! Russia isn't exactly a walk in the park when it comes to setting up a new life, but interestingly it's become quite the magnet for conservative Westerners. It's a funny old world, isn't it? Once upon a time, the Old Believers were leaving Russia to preserve their faith, and now, we're seeing a bit of a reverse pilgrimage for somewhat similar reasons. History sure knows how to loop back on itself in the most unexpected ways!
And about that family, they got so much determination and resilience. It's anyone's guess what mountains they'll move if they keep at it with that kind of spirit. Cheers for sharing your thoughts!
PS As for the military draft… that’s a tough one. I don’t think one can run a YouTube channel while in trenches. I mean, some folks post their GoPro combat videos, but to make documentaries… doesn’t seem likely. I’ve got no military experience, so this pushes me down the line, but in theory I can still be drafted if things go really bad 🤷🏼♂️

@AniMageNeBy Hey hey,
First off, I can finally see all your comments! It looks like they were posted with a significant delay - really annoying, I get it. I’ve now set your comments to “always approve,” so hopefully, YouTube won’t flag or withhold them anymore.
Thanks for tuning in to my last two videos! I might’ve been a bit dramatic about the whole Vorkuta “failure” situation. You’re right - it didn’t turn out that bad with almost 200k views. My main issue with YouTube is how unpredictable the view count is. My videos swing wildly from millions to just tens of thousands, and I’ve never seen such inconsistency on a channel. It’s something I still can’t wrap my head around.
And yes, Mikhail does look a bit like Van Damme - haha! He’s a great guy. What I really appreciate about him is his willingness to help and how comfortable he is on camera, which is rare for many Russians. Unlike Americans, Russians tend to be camera-shy and aren’t always keen on sharing publicly. Mikhail is the complete opposite, and that’s fantastic.
As for traveling to Russia, you’re right - there are no direct flights from Europe, only through third countries. But you can still cross by bus, car, or even on foot through Finland and Estonia, the two countries with a land border with Russia. It’s one of the most affordable ways to get here, and a lot of Westerners heading to Russia are taking that route. Of course, it does come with challenges, like the possibility of having your cash seized. Trust me, I was just as shocked to learn about that!
No plans to cover BRICS at the moment. They turned down my application to cover the Kazan summit a few weeks ago, so all I could do now is another talking-head video - which hasn’t been gaining much traction lately. Even the recent Trump video posted before the election performed below average. I’m focusing on a few other topics now that’ll involve some on-the-ground reporting—a format that’s been really successful on my channel. So, stay tuned!
And again, sorry about the comment situation. Hopefully, now that I’ve changed your status, you won’t have these issues anymore.

Hey, thanks so much for being a constant viewer! Yep, this one did take a bit longer to put together. I had to dive deep into the numbers, and let me tell you, those stat reports aren't exactly what you'd call "beach reads" haha
You're absolutely right, though. If there's one thing we've all learned over the past year and a half, it's that predictions are a tricky business. Frankly, no one really knows what's around the corner. So yes, while it's essential to take those Russian reports with a grain of salt, the doom and gloom some were forecasting didn't exactly pan out.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment, and here's to more digging and less predicting! Cheers! 🍻

@AniMageNeBy Thanks so much for your message - I really appreciate your feedback and insights as always!
You’re absolutely right; I was definitely aiming for a “Caspian Sea Monster” level of success with this episode. Unfortunately, it seems like it’s going to be tough to replicate that. In fact, this V-12 video has had the worst start on my channel in nearly two years of its existence, which I find pretty suspicious. I get it - the history of an old helicopter might not be the hottest topic right now, but 15K views in two days? That feels way off the usual trajectory, even for a less popular topic. So honestly, I don’t know what to think at the moment.
It’s funny you brought up the CSM video. That one had just 30K views for almost a year before it suddenly gained 1.5 million in a single month. I call it “the Caspian miracle,” haha. It’s crazy how unpredictable YouTube can be.
I’m so glad you noticed and appreciated the old Soviet apartment scene! I really enjoyed creating that part. The boy is actually our friends’ son, and I’m so glad he helped out. What most people probably don’t realize is how much effort went into that scene. I found an old stamp album on Russian eBay, then searched for specific vintage stamps, including ones featuring the V-12. The playset with the train, ICBMs, and toy soldiers? That was meticulously sourced as well.
And don’t get me started on the 3D graphic of the V-12! :)
I had to shell out a hefty sum to a designer team to make it just right. So yeah, you can imagine I’m a bit upset the video isn’t performing well despite all the effort. But hey, that’s YouTube for you - it keeps us guessing all the time d
As for the V-12 finding a niche market like the Antonov An-225, that’s an interesting thought! It’s true that the An-225 had its niche for super-heavy payloads, but I guess the V-12 was just too specialized for the military and didn’t really transition to commercial or industrial use. Plus, they only managed to built two helicopters. Still, it’s nice that the old engineer turned it into a museum piece - hopefully, the video will bring them some attention, even if it’s not the hit I hoped for.
Thanks again for tuning in and sharing your thoughts. I always look forward to hearing from you - it’s great to know someone is following my work with such genuine interest. I hope you feel better soon! Take care of yourself

No worries at all! I genuinely appreciate your comment and welcome friendly feedback. I've noticed a few comments suggesting there's no conflict between Russia and NATO, but I have to respectfully disagree. NATO countries play a significant role in this war, supplying weapons, ammunition, and intelligence to Ukraine. While there are reasons for their involvement, it's a fact that they are involved. We've also seen several alarming incidents involving Russian and NATO warships, planes, and UAVs. Thankfully, these haven't escalated the 'cold' confrontation into a 'hot' conflict, but tensions are as high, if not higher, than during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
With that being said, I'm heartened to see there are people in the West like you who approach this situation with a balanced and level-headed perspective. Eventually, this war will end, and the time for dialogue will come. I sincerely hope that this channel, and the community we've built around it, can serve as a bridge to connect people. Thanks for being a part of it! 🤝

@AniMageNeBy Hey! It's weird your post got deleted. I thought I saw it and responded. In any case, drop a line to 1359RealReporter@gmail.com, and I can give you my other email so we can always have a direct line of communication.
Regarding the thumbnail, I think you're right. I did play with it a couple of times. Now, it seems the Vorkuta video is finally getting the traction it deserves. The initial thumbnail showed me in handcuffs with the title "Detained in Russia's Most Depressing Town" or something along those lines. In my experience, I've never seen a YouTuber who didn't get a view boost when they had any trouble with the police, even minor ones. It sparks natural curiosity: "Were you arrested? What for? Did you get out?" In my case, it didn't seem to work... But like I said, now the video is back on track and I'm happy about it. Anything above 100K views is a job well done for me :)
As for the pace of posting, you have a point. There needs to be a balance where I can post a bit more frequently while keeping the quality the same. Chopping and changing is not an option, and the last thing I want is to scare off the people who already watch my content. But with a bit of fine-tuning and, of course, your continued support, I'll get there soon! Thanks again for your feedback and for offering help. I think I've told you before, whenever I write something back to you, it helps me organize my thoughts and see things clearly. So, thank you for that!

@AniMageNeBy Hey hey, thanks for the feedback! That's a lot of food for thought. You’re absolutely right—shaking things up too much on YouTube might indeed cost you views and should be done with caution. The views aren’t bad at the moment, but I can see a downward trend, and I want to nip this in the bud by introducing something new. After all, YouTube likes momentum.
Chinese cars and aviation are definitely worth considering. Russian civil aviation seems like a promising topic as well, especially since many curious viewers, including yourself, have brought it to my attention. As an on-the-spot reporter, though, I can’t do much since getting access to an aviation plant where they assemble the planes might take many months. However, I could do a sit-down review of what’s going on with Russian civil aviation after two years of sanctions. That might actually make a good video—thanks for the tip!
The posting pace should increase, that’s a given. I definitely need to look into how I can make videos more easily but still keep them engaging. That’s why I’m thinking about changing the format. If you travel somewhere like Vorkuta, it takes 5 days just to get there and back, then add transcribing, scriptwriting, editing—there’s no way to make such a video in less than three weeks... And it’s not really cost-effective either. I invested in my Vorkuta trip but only got a little over 100K views in return. So, it’s a good video, but unfortunately a very poor investment.
Anyway, thanks for helping me bounce these ideas off each other. Even by writing this reply, you’ve made me think about many things, and I now have a clearer vision of what my next steps should be

Hey there! It's always great to hear from viewers all around the world, and your background certainly adds a unique perspective to the conversation!
I appreciate your kind words about my English and the channel. It's interesting that you brought up how my fellow citizens and government might react to my projects. I've received a lot of positive feedback from both my Russian and foreign viewers, which is incredibly encouraging.
However, I won't deny that I get some nasty comments from time to time. If they come from Russia, they're usually about me being perceived as unpatriotic or "dancing to the tune of a liberal agenda." From the West, I might be labeled a Kremlin tool, and so on. But these are the exceptions rather than the rule, and I try not to let them get to me.
As for the government, honestly, there's no problem. My channel is relatively small and primarily targets a foreign audience, so I guess they couldn't care less, haha.
Thanks again for your support and for taking the time to engage with the content. Love hearing from you, and I'm glad you find the channel informative and worth watching!

Just to be clear: Western sanctions were intended to hit Putin and the elites, but in reality, it's the ordinary people who are bearing the brunt. These sanctions have cut off the Russian aviation industry from Boeing and Airbus spare parts supplies, putting the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who use civilian airlines every day at risk. Meanwhile, Putin and the elites have their own planes that operate just fine.
Sanctions have also created logistical problems, leading to shortages of critical medical equipment and medicine that used to be imported from the West. Patients with cancer, cystic fibrosis, and other serious diseases can't get their life-saving treatments or have to pay 2-3 times more. But Putin and the elites have no such concerns about medication.
When it comes to food, there's been a 12% inflation rate on groceries, resulting in part from complicated logistics and the pressure applied on Russia's national currency. Meanwhile, Putin probably doesn't bat an eye at how much his weekly cart costs.
It's worth noting that the West didn't sanction themselves, yet prices on almost everything have risen in Europe and the USA too. There's only so much sanctions can do to those in power, but everyday people will always be at the forefront of any economic war
