@ImperativeGames As much as I like spitting on Capitalism, I believe this is more an issue of regulating power and influences as well as keeping intact the watchdog and counterpower mechanisms rather than an economical one. Leninism did ended up with the same oligarchy and that's kind of what libertarian socialists like Bakunin or Kropotkin predicted when criticizing the marxist ideology. Colonies and Protectorates may have gained independence nowadays, but in most cases the domination forces and the trade arrangements still remains in their disfavor and whoever they chose as a new partner just rips them off and exploits them. Neo-colonialism and neo-slavery are just the same old mechanisms in disguise.

I don't think it's funny Jon decided to stop there. I mean his work here is resuming history, not commenting on the actual situation. And this historian take is what he does most of the time. He probably found this topic because of the role of Transnistria in the actual conflict. If your familiar with this channel, by the time you should have noticed that he sometimes gives some insights in a journalistic/analytic way on the news he is familiar with (mostly located around Taiwan and hightech related), sometimes giving some subjective thoughts and a more personal conclusion, but he never does that on subjects he only knows from a distance. So yeah it's definitively for another channel, written by someone who has his pan-out objectivity but also possesses more than a grasp of the culture and the everyday life of Moldova as well as the conflict itself. A person who can be a source for a future Asianometry video.

@michaelrenper796 well, next time you should emphasis on the irony because it was far from obvious. Nonetheless, I am amazed but not really amused by thinking the ongoing war is just motivated by a broader imperialism that was carefully orchestrated even before the fall of the USSR.
