Joshua, The problem is not the war and embargo but how marxism-leninism adopted bureaucracy and centralization to plan and collectivize production. Add to that farmer's resentment and local corruption.

@wongkeehan Not really no. Malnutrition and food insecurity is prevalent all around the globe and it's the standard in many third-world countries.

@KameradVonTurnip That's blatantly false. Check the early History of socialism and you'll see how it is very wrong to imply this is the polar opposite of individualism or that every socialist ideologies are collectivist or bureaucratic.
3
@KameradVonTurnip Well, socialism includes ideologies that aren't collectivists at all (mutualism, individualist-anarchism). Whereas capitalism includes ideologies that are collectivists (eg. fascism). Although collectivism doesn't negate individualism so you can have both, like in anarcho-communism who reused Proudhon's distinction between propriety and possession.

@robertkalinic335 Unfortunately, those dumdums are legions and you should expect them under every content talking about anything close or related to USSR.

@ShubhamMishrabro My sources are my decades-old secondary school education which corroborates with any objective encyclopedia you can find. Your definitions are not accurate at all by missing a lot of nuances. Socialism is not systematically about government or communism, it's just about replacing capitalism to reach social and economical justice so the ways vary depending the sub-ideology. And capitalism is not about private companies having major control of the economy, it's way broader than that and can be resumed with the two concepts of private property of production (by the 3 types of economic capital) and free concurrence, only that. The level of market regulation is not part of the definition so State capitalism and fascism are capitalist, just not liberal. And you weirdly rephrased my sentences. I never said capitalism has collectivist ideas, I just said the two are not incompatible so a state can have a collectivist politics inside a capitalist economy. A lot of capitalist societies, mainly non-liberal, developed country-wide infrastructures or public services instead of using any market.
2
@ShubhamMishrabro The difference is simple: you can't grow capital inside a socialist economy. That's the whole point. You're ridiculing yourself.

European left elders: Kids, read more. It is part of communism, but not the whole.

@ShubhamMishrabro don't try to lecture people when you're confusing economic liberalism with capitalism. Capitalism is not about free market and low government control at all.
1
@ShubhamMishrabro You have to reassign to Macroeconomics 101 if you think that. What I've said is purely factual so no need to make pesky assumptions on my political views.

@KameradVonTurnip You're searching oxymorons in well defined terms… you're wasting your time arguing against facts.
1
@ShubhamMishrabro and you… well keep redefining terms if you want, you surely have nothing better to do than circling. Talking about nazism when I speak about fascism in general is nitpicking. And removing jews from the economy didn't stop the economy itself. It just redistributed some cards, that's all.

@KameradVonTurnip So go write a book/article, make conferences. I'm certain you'll go nowhere because you're contesting centuries-old terminologies.
1
@ShubhamMishrabro Sayig fascism is the capitalism extreme system doesn't negate the fact laissez-faire is an extreme side as well. Social democracy is another extreme that tries to inject socialist concepts inside the capitalist economy. Like in geometry, there is at minimum two extremes in everything.

@KameradVonTurnip Authoritarian ideologies tends to blur these days. Hitler is not the only one who came from marxism then slided to nationalism. Many modest people with non-humanist convictions did. He jumped from one to another trending ideology of his time that tries to counter the deviance of liberalism.
