@vanhuvanhuvese2738 universal income is purely a social-democratic measure as it's just a regulation of capitalism (a Keynesian one), not a way to replace the system by some form of socialism. I share your analysis of USA but I don't understand why you're talking about it.

@vanhuvanhuvese2738 I think pjh was talking about any social measures proposed by a social-democracy ideology, which is still capitalist not communist at all.

Your reality needs an update. Neo-liberalism politics is in fact the issue, as it enhances the gap between riches and poors and push a large amount of the population to precarity. That's why most of the old industrialized countries applied social-democratic reforms. It's not a coincidence that socialism emerged during the 19th century in Europe where the violence of capitalism was peaking due to classical liberal politics.
