  1. As a very avid hunter, fisher and outdoors man deep respect for your position on the NRA. I left it years ago when they left the hunters, hunter safety, wild lands conservation... and became a rightwing nutcase for the gun industry (not all are bad) and crazies who think there should be no firearm restrictions. My hunting passion is upland bird hunting behind a fine brace of pointers. It keeps me moving and the action is often fast and plentiful. Also enjoy waterfowl. Don’t go out for big game anymore. Hate sitting on my butt for hours on end and refuse to hunt “brother bear” - I have an affinity for bears and love observing them and letting them roam free. I was canoeing a remote river years ago for waterfowl and to get into grouse country. And surprised a huge black bear boar on shore coming around a bend. He ran full out, the way only bears run, and performed a magnificent leap into class 1 rapids below me. As luck would have it I was just leaving class II rapids and quickly though accidentally the bear and I crisscrossed midstream. I could have whacked him with my paddle. Our eyes met, the bear didn’t seem overly concerned at that point, as he dog paddled past my bow I could see his massive back muscles bulge. And in the depression between his shoulder blades a cupful of quicksilver (water) glistened and vibrated but not a drop was lost. When he got to the opposite shore he got out, looked downstream at me and shook off calm and peaceful.
