  1. When it rains the runoff of a mountain that has been damaged from MTR washes down to the valley below. In the Appalachian area that valley usually is where many live. At least that is what I got from one MTR protester that visited my state. He showed me many pictures of the damage and a newspaper article of a flood that occurred once from MTR.
