Comments by "\/" (@joebazooks) on "Police Clash With Protesters in Paris: COP21 - Climate Emergency (Dispatch 1)" video.
Quod Perierat it's true. the whole idea of business is messed up for the most part. for instance, any given employee at any given mcdonald's franchise must ultimately generate more profit than the wage that they're paid by mcdonald's, otherwise the business would go bankrupt in very short order. and usually the wage they're paid is much less than the profit they generate.
2
Quod Perierat you do realize it costs money to start a business? license fees. incorporation fees. the cost of products or materials. it's not as simple as you make it out to be.
2
Quod Perierat you're just cherry picking information. go look at the poverty in South or Central America, or even Mexico, the US, or Canada. His point was that you said "[in the Victorian age] there was no worker safety or standard working hours, also kids worked in factories and other dangerous jobs." And his point is that we still have sweatshops all over with very similar conditions to that of the Victorian age. Hence things haven't improved that much since the Victorian age.
2
Quod Perierat in the west working conditions have improved in only a very few countries, yet at the expense of so many other places. you can still find child labor throughout Mexico and Central and South America. you can still find what could be chalked up to slave labour throughout North, Central, and South America. many of the governments responsible for passing for legislation to deal with such conditions, along with many of the official institutions responsible for enforcing such regulations, are also responsible for depriving and stifling other nations and their economies in the east and elsewhere, thus creating deplorable conditions in general.
2
Quod Perierat If you think that's all we've been discussing... I don't know what else to say, but go reread the conversation.
2
Crisis of Democracy nah, but i know exactly what you're talking about. i'd use that website to enforce my spanish vocabulary :)
2
Quod Perierat of course, but we've already established that peaceful protests rarely get us anywhere and then you questioned "where does rioting get us", hence my comment.
2
+Quod Perierat black bloc and anarchism are mutually exclusive movements
1
Quod Perierat some anarchists are peaceful, you know
1
Quod Perierat it's not much better than the victorian age nowadays. and you can't compare the wages of an employee at mcdonald's in a first world country and the wages of an employee in the third world. prices are relative. you make less over there, but everything costs less...
1
Quod Perierat "Not much better than the Victorian age", regarding the big picture, regarding how much better things could and would be in an ideal world. Of course there are events , which have happened since then, that improved working conditions in one way or another. And yet you literally implored us to compare the two. "Wage slavery... lol compare the wages of McDonalds workers in USA to the wages of clothes factory workers in Cambodia before you mention anything about that!" People there still have a problem making enough money to get by, like people here still have a problem making enough money to get by, like just about everywhere people still have a problem making enough money to get by.
1
Quod Perierat well, judging by some of the comments you've made, it wasn't clear. dude, you're all over the place. sit down. sort out your thoughts. then get back to us.
1
Quod Perierat Because anarchists breaking property has so much to do with worker safety and wages, right? lol
1
Quod Perierat yeah, but i wasn't talking to him. i was talking to you. and what me and you were talking about wasn't necessarily what you and him were talking about. it's clear this convo has run its course
1
Crisis of Democracy they still live in destitution, but destitution now with a single bowl of rice every day lol
1
Crisis of Democracy whaddya mean
1
Crisis of Democracy i've seen videos on YT of people in the east talking about how deplorable jobs, whereby they work 14 hour days for a dollar or two, afford them a bowl of rice everyday and not much more.
1
Thomas Madison speak for yourself. capitalism has its merits, but it also has a whole lot of pitfalls.
1
Quod Perierat do you know how many peaceful protests have taken place since then?
1
Quod Perierat plenty is an understatement. you do know there are alternatives to protesting peacefully and violently, right?
1
i guarantee you there are ALWAYS police provocateurs disguised as black bloc activists
