We do, but if you live in a foreign country full time - 12/12 months - you can get a ~$120,000 per year tax free exemption with the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (If you have a spouse you can pay them up to $120,000 salary and get that exempted also for a total of $240,000 tax free). Also, if you are able to burn through the use of the whole Foreign Earned Income Exclusion you can then tack on the Foreign Housing Credit deducting your rental/mortgage payments off your taxes up to ~20,000 per year. Or another way is to live at least 6 months, buy a house, and under Act 60 in Puerto Rico live totally income tax free.
