@Erin has a short about this, too. From my current job, I was talking to a recruiter and he asked my salary expectations, I said something non-committal and asked about the salary range they were offering. He said 90-120k, a good deal higher than I would have said (although about right for my position). Then he got back and said the hiring manager downgraded to 85-90k and *didn't want to waste my time*. 😥 I'm way underpaid at 60k in my current job. 85-90k is also above what I'm expecting for my next promotion.😥 I'm looking up the company now based on the description he sent over so I can apply directly. The work is a little specialty and sounds fun!

Who would you report them to?

@FreedInFashion I think that's fine. They told you a couple of times the top of their range is 70k. If that was a real deal-breaker, you should have told them before the 6 separate interviews. Know that you got the top of their range, and probably the best they could do.

@AuroraB-74 I find it hard to believe that clueless admins could do a worse job than the specially trained HR department does. We have a 2/3 hybrid policy for a Return to Office - if you live within 26 miles of the office. I'm the only one on my team within 26 miles of the office. 20+ miles (each way) times 3 days / week equals ~120 miles. At 20 mpg and an average of $3.50/gall of gas, that's about an extra $20/week it costs me to go to the office to be in the same Teams meetings I'm in at home. Their compensation? Snacks on Thursday! (I've seen them separating 3-packs of Cracker Jacks to pass out 1/person. Don't even ask for 2! Oddly, they get just as mad when I say "no thank you") Oh, yes, they'll be tracking attendance (badge swipes). This will 1. be reported to upper management 2. included on your Performance review. Yes, clueless monkeys could do a better job.

@queeniequeen949 I think that was her point. 200 applications/6 months is 1 application/day. I find it difficult to believe that all those jobs actually had relevance and meaning to the person applying. She said you have to break out of the pandemic mentality and network with real people. I'm trying, but it is difficult.
