In an era where wars are fought with technology, we are still stuck in an era of foot soldiers leading to pensions and medical for pensioners almost half of the defense budget. @BananaBob849 All that is necessary when superior technology decimates inferior technology. And, you cannot hold on to an area with large population if they don't want you on their soil. USA easily defeated countries like Iraq and Afghanistan but ultimately had to leave because the natives didn't want them there.
