India is a union of states and not a nation state. All this problem is happening because India is being run like a nation state where power is concentrated with the center ruled by a political party representing the largest ethnic, linguistic, religious group. India was never supposed to be governed centrally with the exit of the British from India. This is what the 1946 cabinet mission plan was which planned India as a union of autonomous states with few activities being governed centrally. This plan was accepted by both Congress and Muslim League but vehemently opposed by the business houses profiteering under centralized British rule. Since these business houses were chief patrons of Congress, Congress had to withdraw its consent to the cabinet mission plan. Congress withdrawal from the cabinet mission plan led to the partition of British India which was little more than half of today's India. Perennial struggle between the center and the states is due to this dichotomy in governance where our constitution claims India is a union of states whereas it is governed as a nation state. Way forward for a diverse subcontinent like India is decentralization of power to the states. This will also end various insurgencies and separatist movements across India.

@what ever what is the definition of a nation and how are we a nation and not a union of nations brought together by waves of foreign invaders? How is central government different from British or Mughals aka few looting and lording over the many?

@what ever if India was an illegal occupation of the British then how can constitution of India be legal? Was today's India created with the permission of the natives of the subcontinent?

@what ever Congress was created by the British to con the natives into subjugation. Which is why Ambedkar supposedly the author of the constitution hated Congress which in turn under Nehru Gandhi did everything to undermine Ambedkar. So, how could Congress created by the occupiers of India have the will of the people?

@what ever how can it have the mandate of the people if the central government is under the monopoly of those political parties representing the largest ethnic, linguistic, religious group in a vast, diverse, over populated subcontinent like India?

@ammlu each state in the union of India is a nation in its own right as the people of one state have little to nothing in common with people of the neighboring states. In a nation, we have same people everywhere.
