Gandhi became completely irrelevant after 1947. He was killed not because Hindu Muslim thing but because he was a man who knew too much. Those who were profiteering under the British and were propping up Gandhi didn't want him alive with the exit of British from India which they thought could never happen.

This author is not aware Gandhi was serving the British Army in South Africa against the Boers and Zulus. He played such an excellent role there in South African British Army that the British awarded him Kaiser e Hind which means King Of India. He played an active role in recruiting Indian troops for British Army during 1st world War where 100,000 Indian troops perished. His ahimsa was a tool of the British to prevent India's independence movement taking a violent form which the British couldn't control particularly when world war one had started.
