  1. Mayong is a Sinic name and not an Indic name. The original name of this place will be something else replaced by a Sino/Burmese name. The idol of devi and black magic which is associated with these parts were those of Australoid or Dravidian people who inhabited these parts of India prior to arrival of Indo Aryan followed by Chinese and Burmese people during close to 600 years of Chinese and Burmese occupation of NE. The Dimasa are Burmese origin people who have adopted these native customs.
