Nepalis flooded Sikkim due to the policy of the British to subjugate the king of Sikkim. The Nepalis were considered more loyal to the British. This is how Sikkim ended up with majority Nepali population. When the king of Sikkim wanted to address this issue in 1975, the large Nepali population of Sikkim engineered a coup with the help of Indian army which led to the illegal merger of Sikkim with India without the consent of the king and the real natives of Sikkim.

@rajivsarmah8413 Where are the mythological "kirats" today?? The Bhutias and Lepchas, the natives of Sikkim, Bhutan and Darjeeling have nothing in common with the Nepalis. The Nepalis did invade and occupy parts of Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal for few years before the locals took the help of the British to kick out the Nepalis. Later on the British actively encouraged Nepali migration to Sikkim against the wishes of the King of Sikkim leading to Nepalis outstripping the indigenous Sikkimese. Nepalis tried same tactics in Bhutan for which Bhutan kicked out all Nepalis majority of whom settled in North Bengal. And from your surname it's clear you are not a Gorkha but a Madhesi whose land was gifted to Nepal by the British for Nepal's help in putting down the sepoy mutiny by sepoys from UP Bihar.

@octohex2908 more than 90% Nepalis in Darjeeling and other parts of India are Nepali nationals who entered and settled in India after the foolish 1950 Indo Nepal Friendship treaty of open border between the two countries where every right will be provided short of citizenship and the right to vote which is blatantly being violated by the Nepali nationals in India.

@octohex2908 The British gifted the Terai regions of UP Bihar to Nepal for Nepal's help to East India Company to put down 1857 sepoy mutiny of troops largely from UP Bihar. These people are known as Madhesis in Nepal whom the Nepalis have never accepted as their own. What will happen is not only return of these parts of UP Bihar under illegal Nepali occupation but also booting out more than 1 to 2 crores Nepalis in India. Be careful what you wish for as this time instead of another Sikkim you will get Bhutan who kicked out lakhs of Nepalis.
