Ahoms are ethnic Chinese from Yunnan, China. Entire North East was a Bengali kingdom known as Kamrupa which was invaded by Chinese Ahoms in circa 1200 AD and renamed to Oxom which has been anglicized to Assam after occupation of East India Company and the British. Oxom aka Assam was invaded and occupied by the Burmese from circa 1400CE to 1832 when East India Company liberated these lands from Burma and returned to india but with overwhelming ethnic Chinese and Burmese origin people who have never accepted themselves as Indians. Neither has Burma reconciled to loss of NE and China coveting these lands almost immediately after occupation by the communists. Both have been supporting separatist movements in NE. This is the crux of insurgencies and unrest in NE which no amount of negotiation is ever going to resolve. Government has also completely erased the history of north east from our history books. Those whom we call tribals of NE are not even of Indian origin as they are found in Burma and China as well.

Are they of Afghan origin? Definitely yes. Are Parsis Indian citizens? Definitely yes.Are they of Iranian origin? Again Definitely yes. Are the Muslims of Hyderabad Indian citizens? Definitely yes. Are they of Turkish origin? Again Definitely yes. Similar is the case of people of Chinese and Burmese origin in North East. They are Indian citizens just like anyone whose ancestors were born in India prior to 1955 are Indian citizens whether they be British, Irish, French, Portuguese, Nepali, Chinese, Iranian, Arab etc. But are they people of Indian origin? Definitely no.

@tanvingogoi1286 lol! Language culture history customs etc of Assam are primarily Bengali and not "tribal", Chinese or Burmese. Yes, Tai are Dai Chinese of southern China and are not natives of Ayudhaya original name of Thailand or Bagan original name of Burma named after Bamar Chinese. North East and South East Asia were Hindu and Indic prior to Chinese invasion and occupation of South East Asia from 1000 CE following Mongol invasion and occupation of China. Same happened in NE from 1200 CE following Tai Chinese aka Ahom invasion followed by Burmese invasion and occupation of these lands for close to 400 years. Only people of Chinese and Burmese origin are distinctly different from the natives rest are like Indians because they are Bengalis.

Other differences are due to large number of ethnic Chinese, Burmese and North Indians settling in Kamrupa over several centuries and millenniums. Kamakhya temple, Brahmaputra, Tezpur, Goalpara and names of other towns and villages sound Bengali or Chinese Burmese to you? If Bengalis are outsiders in their ancestral lands then what is the status of people of Chinese and Burmese origin illegally squatting on these lands for last few centuries??

@tanvingogoi1286 Now you agree Ahoms came from China in 1228 CE. Which tribes were ruling Kamrupa and the name of their king whom Chinese Su Ka Pha defeated? Yes there were no Bengalis as its a very late identity created by the Mughals. But people whom we call Bengalis today, they were living in these lands and this is why language, culture, customs and all ancient historical and archeological artifacts are all Bengali and not "tribal" who can all be traced to China or Burma. If Burmese only held on to NE for 7 years, how did NE end up with such large number of people who can be found on both sides of the border?? Kamrupa was a "tribal kingdom"?? Palas, Senas, Baro Bhuyan, Varman and other rulers of Kamrupa prior to Chinese invasion were all tribals from China or Burma and not Bengalis??

@akashhazarika2782 what are you? Indian, Chinese or Burmese? If you have Indian blood then you are Bengali otherwise you have either Chinese or Burmese blood or mix of Bengali and Sino Burmese blood. Do a DNA test.

@drago6213 true. But no one is pure Aryan anymore. We have predominantly Dravidian blood right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Only the % varies from region to region leading to some difference in appearance.

@genghiskhannew7370 Assam is anglicization of Tai Chinese Oxom. Yo, half of Bengal was occupied by Pathans and Turks the other part by Chinese and Burmese. The battle between Ahoms and Mughals was basically a battle between Chinese and Turks.

Tripura, Manipur, Kamrupa sounds like Chinese and Burmese names or Indic names? Your blood is Sinic how did you people end up in India?? Honest answer to this question will prove what I have said. India has been invaded and occupied by waves of foreign invaders from different parts of the world. The Europeans were the last to invade but the first to leave the Indian subcontinent. Those who came before the Europeans are still present in India having same hostile relations with the natives which leads to never ending insurgencies, secessionism and terrorism funded and abetted by nations from where they came. This is the hard truth.

If you are an Ahom, then you are Tai Chinese. The language, culture, customs and history of NE prior to 1200 CE are Bengali. From 1400 CE NE faced invasions from Burma and eventually became a part of Burma. This is how Burmese Austroasiatic people ended up in NE. This is also how Kuki, Naga, Mizo Burmese Chin people whose roots are in China ended up in India during Burmese occupation of North East. NE returned to India after 1832 when East India Company liberated North East and returned to India but with majority Chinese and Burmese origin people who have never accepted themselves as Indians. How can Chinese and Burmese origin people become indigenous people of India?? Those you are calling Tripuri, that isn't their real name as they are tribes from Burma who settled in Tripura. This is why they have surnames like Burman, Debbarma which means people from Burma. If those whom you call the indigenous people, if they were truly the indigenous people of these parts, then NE would be part of China and Burma not India. NE is in India because they are the ancestral lands of Bengalis. You are the best proof of what I have said. You have a Bengali sounding name, you speak a language which is similar to Bengali but by blood you are predominantly Chinese or Burmese.

@jadabchetia7755 Assam is pronounced as Oxom by the locals. This isn't an Indian name. The idea of democratic nation states is a post world war two development. Prior to that we had kingdoms ruled by kings and queens. NE was brought into India from Burma in 1832CE. NE was occupied by Burma in circa 1400 CE. And from 1200 to 1400 CE it was under Tai Chinese occupation. Prior to 1200 CE, NE was a collection of Bengali kingdoms. The part that was occupied by the Afghans and Turks became today's Bangladesh and West Bengal. These are historical facts.

The Assamese language, script, culture etc are similar to which people Chinese, Burmese or Bengali?? I don't know about whole of India but I do know Kamrupa, Tripura, Manipur were Bengali kingdoms prior to Tai Chinese and Burmese invasion and occupation of these kingdoms just like today's Bangladesh and West Bengal went under centuries of Afghan and Turkic rule before the British rule.

@jadabchetia7755 Let's start with your name. Assamese script is same as Bengali. Assamese language and Bengali have 70% similar words. The food is same as Bengali. The culture is same as Bengali. But, Assamese are not one people. It consists of Chinese and Burmese settlers. Settlers from Indo Gangetic India. Adivasis from Jharkhand. And the Bengalis many who are natives of Assam and large number who settled during British rule and after the partition. This my friend, will be borne out by DNA test of all these people. Now deny as much as you want as that doesn't changes the truth.

@jadabchetia7755 fact is Maithlis, people of north eastern part of Odisha, Bengalis, non mongoloid indigenous people of NE do have lots of similarities. Not only general castes but the dalits who are the real indigenous people of India do have many similarities. The Indo Aryans settled later whose culture, customs assimilated those with those of the locals. This is why Hinduism celebrated in Bengal and NE is very different from that in other parts of India. Many things have deliberately been hidden by the government.

What went under Afghan and Turk occupation became Bengal. The indigenous people of Bengal, Bangladesh and NE are one and the same which is evident in culture, language and DNA.
