India was not supposed to be governed centrally as per the 1946 cabinet mission plan. In a diverse subcontinent like India, power should rest with the states and only few activities need to be governed centrally.

@thirdperson4705 did RaGa say anything wrong?? Why constitution of India defines India as a union of states and not a nation state?? Please explain.

@amanverma69 this is a forced union of British India which itself was an illegal occupation, with 565 independent kingdoms without any referendum. The states could secede from the union. But after the language protests in TN there was a move by TN to separate from the union of India. It is only then the constitution was changed forbidding any state from separating from the union of India. The law and constitution can be reversed or the different states can come together and declare the union of India illegal as it happened to USSR.

@amanverma69 what is not allowed??? The constitution was amended to prevent secession from the union of India after Tamil Nadu wanted to secede from the union of India in 1960s. Only little more than 50% of today's India was illegal colony of Britain called British India. Rest were 565 independent kingdoms which were willy nilly annexed into British India in 1947 without any permission or referendum. The 1946 cabinet mission plan was true independence. Opposition to this plan by the business houses profiteering under centralized rule led to the partition of India and creation of today's India and Pakistan two illegal countries which never existed prior to arrival of the British.

@amanverma69 There was no country called India prior to arrival of a foreign masala company called East India Company. Only 50% of today's India was an illegal colony of the British called India which they created by occupying various kingdoms in South Asia. The remaining 50% were 565 independent kingdoms. When India itself was illegal then how can few words on a paper by people who have nothing in common make it a legal document?? Can you create a nation out of continent of Europe or Africa?

@amanverma69 True. You are forgetting USSR. Today's China is Han Chinese USSR 3/4 of which are occupied territories which is why China has an internal security force larger than PLA. Entire American continent which includes North, Central and South America are European occupied colonies where so called "Indians" have been reduced to strangers in their own land. Much of the nation states of today emerged from the European colonies and some have their borders arbitrarily drawn which is leading to conflicts to this day. 1947 was not independence but transfer of power from the British to the allies of the British. India is not a nation but a union of states which is how the constitution defines India. India in reality is similar to Europe or Africa with several nations.

@SG The post of Governor is illegal in any democracy. The post of Governor was created by the British to put a check on the natives. This is a colonial legacy which needs to be scrapped.
