36 Rafales are too less to be of any deterrence to Pakistan let alone China. The question that still remains unanswered why Modi unilaterally canceled cheaper 126 Rafale deal with manufacturing and transfer of technology with 36 Rafale deal costing 240 million dollars for an 80 million dollars fighter? At this price India should have got more than 100 Rafales not 36.

@adityabanyal244 forget UPA or NDA, fact is there has to be transparency and logic to something as crucial and sensitive as defense.

@prateekkinha India has more than adequate missiles and bombs but desperately lacks fighters due to which IAF is forced to fly vintage Mig21 leading to loss of lives. So, why did Modi cancel the earlier deal of 126 Rafales with complete transfer of technology and manufacturing in India?

@palaniappank99 if we pay 240 million dollars for an 80 million dollars fighter, then how can we have cash reserves?

@adityabanyal244 India desperately needs fighters not weapons. We have some of the best missiles and bombs developed indigenously or imported from Isreal and Russia. As far as charges of corruption are concerned why is this government running away from instituting a JPC to probe into the charges of corruption? If it has not done anything irregular then why run away from an impartial probe?

@a141tho2 It is on lower price that Rafale was selected in MMRCA. Modi unilaterally without consulting with anyone canceled the 126 Rafale deal on the pretext of price. He signed a new deal for 36 fly away Rafales with no transfer of technology and manufacturing in India for a staggering sum of 240 million dollars one fighter whose fly away cost is only 80 million dollars. The price India is paying in the new deal it should have got at least 100 Rafales not 36 Rafales.

@adityabanyal244 the deal with Qatar includes frigates and many other things whereas the 126 fighters deal was with complete transfer of technology and manufacturing in India. What you have mentioned is an incomplete picture.

Pakistan is a bankrupt country with a GDP smaller than Bangladesh. Major threat is from China which has not one but two types of potent 5th generation fighters against which 36 4.5 generation Rafales are virtually useless.

@prateekkinha Supreme Court only said there is no discrepancy in procurement procedure, and not on the charges of corruption as Supreme Court is not an investigation agency which is the job of CBI where Modi conducted a midnight coup when CBI wanted to initiate an investigation into the charges of corruption in the Rafale deal.

@adityabanyal244 if IAF with the most advanced missiles from Russia, Israel, France and India was lacking anything it could have figured in the MMRCA contract and 10 years of flight tests and evaluation. Supreme Court cannot decide whether the matter needs to be investigated by JPC, that has to be decided by the parliament.

@ashwinikumarsingh9341 you want to tell me IAF was testing a dummy Rafale for 10 years?

@a141tho2 no sht Sherlock. Why Modi is vehemently against comparing pricing of new deal with the pricing of 126 Rafales with complete transfer of technology and manufacturing in India??
1
@adityabanyal244 how can there be any credible source when the government itself refuses to divulge financial details of both the deals?
