  1. Conventional submarines have little use against China. China has a massive geographical advantage over India. Han China, the heart of China is in the eastern coastal region well out of the reach of India's conventional weapons. But, Chinese conventional weapons can strike all across north India starting from J&K all the way to Arunachal Pradesh. To checkmate this enormous advantage, India needs at least a fleet of 15 SSGN, 5 SSBN and 10 nuclear attack submarines apart from a potent rocket force. For this we will have to shelve the 3rd aircraft carrier and conventional diesel electric submarines program which are good only against Pakistan and pretty much useless as offensive weapons against China.
