Consciousness cannot be seen, imagined or conceptualized, but it is the only thing that is real, and without it nothing could be conceptualized or imagined.

Every single person on the planet has experienced the best virtual reality, they just haven't realized it yet.

There is no war on drugs, you can't have a war on inanimate objects. There's a war on drug addicts. -Gabor Mate

We have a war on just about everything becuase there's money to be made... war on drugs, war on child abuse, war terror, etc. But for some reason you just don't see investors lined up to fight the war on poverty.

Remember this: The 2nd Amendment will always protect the 1st Amendment.

The problem on the internet sphere is the same as the problem in the real world, most people lack reason and ethics. Twits outnumber intellectuals 10/1. It's called twitter for a reason.

LOL at the marginally intelligent/mildly retarded trolls complaining about the misleading title that should contain "forest" after the word amazon to make things clear. Oh well, must feed my brain. Time to go order a book from the people of the Amazon.

Penny Lane He's probably thinking of the top 2% who own 80% of the wealth or something along those lines. The obscenely wealthy who not only own a dozen or two dozen mansions around the world but also own whole islands, entire land masses... yet seem to be plauged by misery, and force misery on everyone else on the planet. Imagination is the true ground of being, not wealth.

I like this dude, he inspired me to go out and see a total solar eclipse. See you all in South Carolina!

Meditation is kind of like watching a movie, but not dwelling on a particular scene. Or pretend you're sitting in front of a white screen and the thoughts in your head play out on the screen but you let them pass. Those two examples have helped me a great deal.

I want crisper flavored cheez-its

holyhelo5speak You're correct. The reason we probably haven't made progress, and maybe never will, is because something as confounding as reality can't be downloaded into everyday language. I had to think about that one for a while, but if reality is mysterious and confounding, how do you put it into mere words? That's the first hurdle, and second hurdle is the dichotomy of objectivism vs solipsism, or that we already know that a perceived reality exists in conjunction with awareness. this is self-evident and requires no evidence. But to assert that some kind of reality exists independant of awareness is an affirmation that does require evidence (faith). The burdeon of proof lies in objectivism.

***** Yes, of course, I'm not stupid. But shouldn't you be addressing that question to Mr. Mate since he's the one I'm quoting?

She forgot the TOP 3 magical plants: cannabis, the vine of the dead and mimosa hostilis

We're living in a world where big business and big government have gone to bed together and the rest of us can suffer.

I imagine Abe Lincoln sounded something like this guy

I mean if you're starting off your talk with "I still teach Sunday school every week..." you just gave away all your credibility in reasoning... The number one abuse of human rights on Earth is the abuse of children, hands down. Go home you old fart.

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, I learned Spanish, So can you.

You can read the MMR test trials online thanks to the freedom of information act... I didn't hear this kid mention how out of 1,300 test subjects, more than 50% got upper respiratory infections after being injected with MMR...Information bias much. I think I'll pass. My kid will never get vaccinated. People are so fucking stupid.

I think REM happens when the brain is in Alpha or Theta, but when the brain is most relaxed, called delta, It's dreamless sleep. People who practice transcendental meditation get into the delta brainwave mode, which is why there's so much clarity that comes with meditation.
5
It would be cool if we could turn on or off that face recognition thing in the brain... that would come in handy after being married to the same woman for 5 years.

Is spanking my wife when she misbehaves healthy or unhealthy even if it hurts me more than it hurts her?
4
+Jos Ossef Yeah, I was thinking something along those lines...but to expand on that a bit...think about our daily interaction with reality itself. If virtual reality were to become so advanced that you could not distinguish it from normal reality... how would you know the difference? The ultimate virtual reality is the experience of being alive IMO.

TD: We're a generation of men raised by women, I don't think another woman is what we need. TED: Yes we do.

I'm not religious, but according to one of the most ancient texts in existence we were created as a slave race by the Anunnaki. Honestly, I think I believe that more than I believe Evolution.
