We are either bombing them, invading them, stripping of their assets, bribing their governments, exporting our pollution to them or wrecking their climate with out greenhouse emissions. You know why most ex colonised countries are poor and the ex colonisers are rich? Can you guess? Take India as an example as its close to home for Britain and Patel. The British, while running India for a couple of centuries, managed to kill 30-40 million Indians in deliberate famines AND managed to leave the country LESS industrialised and LESS wealthy than when they found it. Hardly surprising that such countries struggle to become prosperous is it!

  3.  @anonomous8719  Do you know that? Do you know what happened to Ugandan Asians? They were told to all leave the country within 60 days so the U.K. gave them all blanket rights to come to the U.K. The judgement about whether we should help desperate and suffering people is not about paperwork. It's about need.

  5.  @petehuda7457  Who is proposing to "import" millions of people? The U.K. took in 20,000 people in 2019. This is 0.003% of the U.K. population. It's one person seeking asylum per 3150 Britons. It's also much less than most other European countries. And by the way, these are people seeking asylum from horrible circumstances, not flat screen TVs. We don't "import" people. We help them to rebuild their lives.
