Comments by "Michael RCH" (@michaelrch) on "Keir Starmer bullies Rishi Sunak over Nadhim Zahawi's tax affairs at PMQs" video.
I have to say, Sunak is fair to say that Starmer has no principles, just ambition. And if Labour did say there should be an enquiry and they got one, it's a bit empty to complain now. It goes without saying that Zahawi should be sacked, but it's as usual, disappointing that Starmer wants to focus on a Westminster village story, rather than the dire state of many ordinary people's lives in this country.

@annishilcock4587 Look up Starmer's 10 pledges for winning the leadership in 2020 - they are still online - then compare to current Labour policy. The man has no principles. Yes, obviously the Tories are a shower of sh*te. No argument there. The point about the Westminster village story is that it has ZERO impact on the lives of ordinary people. Yes, the government has been caught with its pants down, but this is absolutely negligible compared to the government's failures which actually harm people, such as austerity, active neglect of public services, ecocidal policy on the climate and environment, etc etc This story is a gossip story. It's Punch and Judy, team sport politics. It doesn't impact your life or my life. We need our politics to focus on fixing stuff for us, not distractions like this.

@gio-oz8gf I am not saying Zahawi shouldn't go but this story isn't actually telling us anything we don't know. This is £3 million of tax. Where is the scandal surrounding the tens of bill muons of tax that the fossil fuel industry avoids thanks to rotten laws? Do you know how much windfall tax Shell has paid? Zero. Nothing. That is a scandal. That is something the government needs to outlaw. Tax avoidance is not even a crime. Yes, we have learned that Zahawi was trying to avoid tax but that is big news if you have any idea how the rich live. They ALL do that ALL THE TIME. The scandal isn't that they try. The scandal is that the LAWS which Parliament makes even allow such things. THAT is worthy of debate, not this side show.
