  2. I found some information, which if true, explains why Tommy got 13 months, an increase of his sentence totalling several times the original sentence. Some first-world countries deny visas to anyone who has received more than a 12-month sentence for an offense. By increasing his sentence to 13 months, the judge effectively prevented him from moving around outside of the UK.
