  5. The melting pot was real when the US limited immigration to 5,000 foreigners per year. From 1924 to 1965, only 5,000 people per year were allowed to emigrate in. That's because politicians used to know that incoming foreigners had to be a trickle in order to allow them to assimilate into the culture. Now assimilation isn't even pc. There is no longer a true concept of a melting pot, just lip service at best.
