@tomoflapland_48 Did you have pity for the children in Donbass, who have been bombed by the Ukraine government for the past 8 freaking years? Many of those children, at least the survivors, have spent their lives in the basement of their homes. They've never been able to play outside because it's too dangerous. That's Ukraine doing that. So don't be a hypocrite.

@willy4170 No, she's informed. Putin has fortified Russia against sanctions since 2012. They are now almost entirely self-sufficient, and even a net exporter of food, fuel, crop fertilizer, wood, steel, and other products. They manufacture their own farm equipment and cars. What they don't produce, they can buy next door. You remember China, right? Where Americans buy almost everything we use?

Affect whose thinking on Ukraine? Nobody batted an eye for the past 8 years while Ukraine shelled Donbass and kidnapped, tortured, and killed Russia-speaking Ukrainians, except that the UN gave it a passing comment and humanitarian groups objected. Other than that, not a peep.

Russia insists that people who emigrate have to support themselves. No freebies. They also have to follow all of the laws. No exceptions. Also, it's freaking cold; people of color didn't immigrate to Scandinavia much, either, until they found out how much free stuff they could get as "refugees." Just to say, the Norwegian government, until very, very recently, was notoriously oppressive even to the Sami, an indigenous population that were forced by law to adopt every aspect of Norwegian culture and were forbidden to speak their own language. Yourway2norway did a video on it (he is Sami). By the way, Siberia, eastern Russia, has many people of Mongolian ethnicity.

"All" of the tech experts haven't left. The estimate from western media is that 10% will leave, and many of them were mainly afraid of being drafted. Putin just signed a law exempting tech experts from conscription, so I expect that the loss will slow down.

Not so much. Russia is a net exporter of food, including wheat (you know, the stuff that bread is made of), seafood, and more. Putin has made sure that Russia can weather sanctions. However, the countries sanctioning Russia, not buying their goods, are the ones who are in for bread lines. Have fun with that.

@OneOfThoseTypes Sanctioning Russia is its own punishment. Russia is self-sufficient, but its trading partners aren't. By the way, did you know that the US government is still allowing millions of dollars in trade with Russia for the importation of oil products and crop fertilizer? America calls on the world to stop trading with Russia, but WE'RE still doing it!

Malls only died in America because gangs took over. Decent people couldn't go there any more because the gangs practically live there. That doesn't happen in Russia. The government wouldn't allow it, and Russian men are still men who don't allow such things.

Is that how you feel about living in a western country? Western democracy is just an illusion. You think you're free, obviously, but only because you haven't been paying attention. Do you think for one minute that Russians would tolerate the violent riots of the last two years in America? I doubt that the Russian government would even have to lift a finger, because Russian citizens wouldn't have put up with it for a second.

I have no sympathy for Ukraine. If we were in Russia's position, we would have crushed Ukraine years ago for what they've done. Crushed. Them. Consider that the government of Ukraine has been shelling the eastern part of their own country for the past 8 years, killing and injuring at least 40,000 people according to the UN, including innocent women and children. And the rest of the Ukrainians were just fine with that. As far as I'm concerned, they can just suck it up now that justice is being done.

Ukraine is very wrong, and the US is run by corrupt officials who only care about money; money that was flowing in from Ukraine by the millions and money they can give to their friends who make military hardware.

There are plenty of channels by Russians who don't live in Moscow. If you think that Russians are going to suffer severely from sanctions, you're wasting your time. Russia is well fortified to be self-sufficient due to Putin's policies. Russia is a net exporter of food, crop fertilizer, wood, steel, oil, and many other products. They manufacture their own cars and farm machinery. They make almost everything they need, and what they don't produce, China is right next door. You know, China, that produces almost everything we use here in the US.

Then don't buy any brands that trade in Ukraine, either, unless you're a rabid hypocrite. And the rest of Ukraine was just fine with that. Imagine if your governor was bombing one side of your state, killing tens of thousands of innocent people. Would you be ok with that?
