  1. As a former cop, I say that community oversight is key. Police personnel records must no longer be secret. The community has a right to know how the people we trust with our lives behave on the job. Body cameras must be changed to record the officer’s ENTIRE shift. No on/off switch. More citizen ride alongs. I loved taking citizens out to see what it’s like for real. It builds appreciation for law enforcement. And POST training for search, seizure and arrests must be completely overhauled.
