If I'm not mistaken, Mexico made migration legal to encourage settlement in the region and ward off attacks by Comanche tribe raids. Then, when the Americans outnumbered the Mexicans, Mexico closed the border again

@1952MLS 35,000 years is a long time. It's native to the population that developed in America. There are stores in Europe older than the entire history of white people in the United States. You have no connection to the land- all of your food, culture, language, comes from somewhere else. You might live in the US, but you aren't native. Not even a little bit.

Zach Arbogast Not at first, but the Native Americans they encountered afterwards, they absolutely did. Ever heard of smallpox blankets?

@jayfawn8478 Probably not Texas, but California absolutely. That would have given Mexico access to extremely fertile land, something which it lacks. It's not the people that make the land successful- the land determines how well the people do. California has a Mediterranean coast and fertile valleys. Any people that settle there will do well.
