@ApoBeef Fact is, they're the economic engines that the red states rely on for money. "Degenerates"? I'd rather be that than a lazy, mooching, racist hick.

@Grilledhotchips They can change, they just need structural reform— a big upset and throwing out the corrupt class of politicians from both sides of the aisle.

@ApoBeef Not really. It barely qualifies as a city. Doesn't even crack 1M residents. All red state "cities" (minus Texas, where they're blue dots in a sea of red, and New Orleans, which is older than Louisiana itself) are sprawling, empty blocks of asphalt with no downtown.

@yemo34 These people's grandparents still remember segregation. And that experience (I would know, my family survived WWII) translates into parenting styles and attitudes. I'm a much more negative and self-critical person because of how the war affected my grandparents, and how they chose to raise my parents as a result. We're still working through it.
