@Omar_E11 "wE hAd nO iDeA" The West has had decades of experience to draw upon, why don't Americans ever learn? Iraq, Afghanistan, Congo, Guatemala, all happened before Libya. The U.S. just doesn't understand nation-building, fundamentally, because it has never seen true hardship. Its land is easy to govern (flat, arable land with many rivers). It can never get through its thick skull, the fact that other places require strong, centralized, often brutal control to keep the territory from falling apart. Progress happens slowly, and the Americans are like impatient little children. The Obama administration just needed an enemy to grandstand against, one that threatened their economic interests, and it chose Libya. Yes, Gaddafi was a brutal dictator. But he was the best that country had, and if the Americans were so thoroughly unaware of the difficulties governing a massive desert, then they should just stay out of others' affairs.

@Pan-European Soviet Marxist-Leninist "They" were a small fraction of the actual population. They, similar to you, didn't realize that stability is difficult to maintain in a goddamned desert. The man who helped topple Saddam's statue has said on record that he was young and foolish, and didn't realize what he caused. Qaddafi was not a kind leader, but far fewer people died under his rule than are dying in the civil war. With him, there was at least a hope that they could eventually be democratic. Now, they have to start over again.

@RedRider1600 "We came, we saw, he died!" That's pretty definitive, the U.S. orchestrated most of it. The CIA has been known to manufacture dissent in foreign countries (chiefly Panama, Iraq). The U.S. still supported the 'rebels' with air strikes of their own. The U.S. were in official support of said militias. This is the exact same as Iraq- find the people who hate the leader the most, give them the means to oppose leadership, ans sit back. Just because you didn't do the heavy lifting, doesn't mean you're not behind it. Do you think the Libyan people are better off now perpetually fighting each other, rather than Gaddafi?
