@BakingBadOBX And why would they invest in a foreigner when the average time a foreign worker spends in Japan is less than 2 years? Better to invest in a Japanese worker who you don’t have to treat like a toddler for 5 years until they can speak like a 5 year old.

Poor is a relative term. To many Japanese poor means Guam instead of Hawaii for winter vacation.

@kageyamareijikun Well, if he/she has no degree nor specific skill that an employer will sponsor a work visa for then I'm not sure what the OP expects...summer camp, swimming instructor? There are Japanese people to fill such positions. Japan doesn't exist to accommodate foreign nationals' whimsical adventures.

I’ve taught at a high school in Japan for more that 30 years. I also have 5 kids who are either in or have been through the public school system. Politics are most certainly taught in social studies classes throughout Japan. You’re a plethora of misinformation on here, eh Chris

@TOOTOO-f6v I don't equate the soft-spoken 20 something voice in train stations, etc. as being that of a "little girl". My feet are planted firmly on the ground on that. What exactly "sounds horrible" in Japanese? It's a fairly flat language with little inflection. Perhaps your not understanding a word of it sets you off?

@cyropox8235 There are plenty of Indians in the IT industry in Japan. It's estimated that 80% of the 46,000 Indian nationals in Japan are in the IT sector. The handful of Indians I've met in Japan have all been fluent in Japanese. Perhaps it's a matter of effort sparked by the fact that they are coming from a poor country, while those in Germany or the US merely want to live in Japan because it's cool...and as such don't put in the required effort to acquire the language at a proficient level. Considering the fact that Japanese companies have an option of hiring foreigners who are proficient in Japanese over those who aren't is a factor in companies requiring a high level of language proficiency. The other thing to consider (which I'm sure Japanese companies do) is those who have put in the time and effort to learn Japanese are more likely to stay.

Hey, your opinion is your opinion, so it's valid. That's how you feel. What's not valid is some of your other ridiculous comments like the Japanese use kanji "to confuse people". Perhaps a history lesson would prove useful for you before you spout that piffle. Anyway, how about posting a video of yourself speaking Japanese and let's hear how fluent you are. If you can't speak Japanese, then try posting one of you speaking Thai and let those who come across this decide which language sounds "horrible". Cheers!

@TOOTOO-f6v Yes, I often hear male voices for train announcements. I’m listening to one as I write this now. I’m on the train platform on the Tobu Tojo Line. Now, inside the train the male conductor is announcing the stations upon approach. I’ll be happy to upload the recording if your credulity is not persuaded.

@kageyamareijikun I'm pretty confident there are laborers here with 3~5 year work visas that don't require a bachelor's degree. I think you're referring to either a humanities visa or an education visa.
