@shizukagozen777 I see. I wonder why that is. I wonder if they see Japanese women as being more traditional in terms of willingness and desire to be stay at home moms, whereas Japanese women see foreign men as being more open to their not becoming stay at home, traditional wives. In my experience, Japanese men tend to be more conservative in their values, Japanese women, too, who understand that the homemaker rules the home, but women tend not to rule the working world. Certainly, a complex clash of culture and ideology. I had to get used to the idea of handing over all the banking cards and access to our household finances, but that's the way it is in Japan, the household is very much a matriarchy in Japanese culture. We have 5 kids who have all turned out to be healthy, happy and successful in each of their endeavours thanks in large part to that. I'm grateful.

@GloRia-yp2tj There are statistics that show black people commit a disproportionate amount of violent crime in America. Are we to conclude from that that black people are violent criminals? “Not all of course.” No, that would be prejudiced and racist. People are individuals, each is different. The "lived" experience of black people in Japan differs as is evident by the numerous interviews done on the channel mentioned in my previous comment. Systemic? I know black teachers, engineers, techs in Japan, I've seen videos on the aforementioned channel of professionals in Japan leading successful lives. At the high school where I've taught for 30 years we have 5 foreign teachers, myself ( a white Canadian), 3 female teachers from Taiwan and a black American man from Chicago. My daughter's jr. high school has a black woman from Jamaica, my son's English teacher is from the Philippines. I think if you only account for conversation schools "eikaiwa", you'd think that blonde hair, blue eyed westerners are the norm. If you were to account for the public school system and private jr.high schools and high schools, you would see far more diversity than you seem to be suggesting here. I'm not sure what you mean by "systemic"...do you mean Japanese people get preferred treatment in terms of advancement in the workplace. Could it be that foreigners tend to be functionally illiterate more often than not. Could you imagine not being able to read and write in North America and expecting to advance in the workplace? I couldn't imagine being able to get anything more than a manual labour job if that were the case. Systemic? We're talking about a nation that is 98% Japanese. What are the odds that Japanese comprise most managerial positions etc.?
