I wonder how many languages he is fluent in? I mean "speaking" and being fluent are vastly different. I'm just curious in how many languages could he carry out conversations about random topics rather than just greetings and saying a few things about himself, the weather etc. Either way, it's impressive. But, I'm kind of skeptical about the "learned 12 languages"...as "learned" implies a level of completion that suggests fluency. I'll reserve my credulity about his being "fluent" in 12 languages.

@pax24 My interest is based on how much of these languages he can understand and use. It’s not a criticism. I’ve said it’s impressive and I meant exactly that. That said I’d like to know to what extent he has “learned” 12 languages. I can speak one language besides my native tongue non stop without hesitation on almost any topic which I have knowledge of. I can speak another functionally as well as read extensively (a novel for example) and one more in the most basic capacity such as ordering food or asking directions. To what extent he has learned 12 languages is what I’m curious about. It’s not a criticism, it’s a query.

What's your definition of "fluent"?

@MsBrooklyn11232 Define "fluent". Does the ability to utter a limited set of phrases make one "fluent"?

@blasianking4827 “learned” 12 languages implies a level of competition. Perhaps "studies" 12 languages, or "is learning" 12 languages or even "has learned some basic communication skills in 12 languages" would be a more accurate title.

@blasianking4827 Is the title flamboyant or misleading?

Yes, it's the same as in Canada. In Eastern Canada from Ontario, we have French lessons 3 times a week from elementary school, yet I can count on two fingers the number of Canadians I know who can speak French. I know far more Japanese who can speak English.
