  1. I grew up in Toronto where there was a lot of racism and violence associated with it in the schoolyard. A lot of kids had a tough go of it. I boxed at Cabbagetown boxing club with a kid called Asif Dar. His dad got him into boxing because he had to fight his way home from school almost everyday. He became an Olympic boxer for Pakistan...Canada snubbed him. We've had 5 kids in Japan. None of them has had a single incident of racism. The first encounter with racism any of them had was when I put my son in a hockey school for a week while in Toronto when we were home for the summer. He was 8. After one session he asked me "Papa...What's a "nip"?
