  1. Probably because the warranty would pay more labour rate if they did it the kit route, instead of ordering a crate engine, which has the labour part included in the price only for install. They wanted to bill the extra 100 hours of doing all the assembly instead, as they could charge for the removal time as well per part. ie Remove head labour, remove oil pan labour, then remove engine complete labour, which was the only thing needed. Basically a warranty scam.

  2. Leave it stock factory, change oil on the ardous service timing and mileage mark, and do not take it past mid revs.
