  1. Wrong at 3:41 - the USSR only really absorbed modern Transnistria: the rest of Moldova (along with the Budjak region of Ukraine) was part of Romania between the wars. And we should also note that much of western Ukraine was ruled by Poland then: the nationalist movement that gave us the "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!" call-and-response was originally as much an anti-Polish as an anti-Soviet movement. 7:22 - Japan surrendered after just two atomic attacks because not only had the US beaten them all the way across the Pacific (they'd even taken Okinawa) but because the Soviets had entered the war and were overrunning Japan's empire in mainland Asia. If the Nazis had managed to fully defeat the USSR, I suspect that the US would have just helped fortify Britain as much as possible while defending the Middle East and defeating Japan (but not using atomic bombs: can't let the Nazis see that they actually work!) with the rest of the US war economy devoted to mass-producing atomic bombs. Once the US had enough (maybe 200-300) atomic bombs -- this would most likely be in 1948 -- they would be used in a single massive attack to destroy Germany in one day. Kind of like the "Operation Dropshot" proposed in the mid-1950s, only directed against Nazi Germany instead of the USSR.
