Second the idea for a library reference copy!

Last I heard, Max keeps finding more stuff that he didn't know about, needs to research, and get photos, etc.

There are two wood pegs that hold the hilt of a traditional style katana onto the blade. Knock them out and you can pop the handle off the blade. Many cheap modern blades intended for cutting practice still have the pegs, but also epoxy the handle onto the blade for more security. For example, the Paul Chen/Hanwei Forge Practical Katana. The Practical Plus Katana doesn't have any glue, so the user needs to pay attention to those pegs working loose. And some higher end live blades actually have 3 pegs for a little extra security.

Whoa! That's awesome! I hope that the family isn't losing their mind over it, but if the bare blade alone, no box or anything, is what he found I kinda doubt it.

Up through 1945, those were combat rated blades, not stainless steel belt decoration.

@lightweight1974 yeah, once you've seen one come apart the first time it kinda blows your mind. And sticks with you how easy that was. Especially compared to either Chinese or European swords.

My wallet hates you right now, Ian. I am going to get the book, but have no space in the budget to get a pre-order.

@EagleKeeper1916 nah, man, been out on my own since 1996. Didn't start playing 40k till 1998 or so. Had a lot of guys in the Navy that played 40k. Was pretty normal to have 32-player tournaments in Bremerton, Washington. I'm sure you have something that you nerd out about. Cars? Planes? Tanks? Ships?
