  2. Craig West looking back, if I could do over, I would have stayed in my small town, married and raised a big family. If you live near extended family, you have deeper connections to nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins. You may have fewer friends but they are real ones.

Those folk have abilities to run farms, ranches, businesses— they can read just as widely as a city person and they do— I’ve seen young teenagers herd cattle,train horses and repair heavy machinery and even drive themselves to school over rough roads. They tend to be responsible, resilient, dependable , honorable — family honor and a good name mean something there. City people go to gyms, shop at REI for gear, then need to be rescued from the mountains because the GPS stopped working.
