  1. Matthew Bowen Until such time as people give houses away for free so I don't need to get a loan/mortgage; and the property tax is abolished, I'll just pay off the loan and pay my taxes. I own my property for as long as I do that, and that was the agreement when I bought. Not perfect - just way better than the alternative that looks to be taking shape, ie abolishing property ownership by ordinary people.

  2.  @JanPBtest  Yes I got that. Can you still buy a house in the US? Once bought, do you have tenure in as far as you have the say as to who enters? When the time comes, can you sell the house to someone else, the proceeds of that sale coming to you? Similar in UK and we've managed with that arrangement all of my life. Not perfect but better than N Korea, China and many other places.
