  1. In the months before the American Revolution there existed pamphlets, posters, newspaper political cartoons that carried the phrase--UNITE OR DIE!! This is a good thing to keep in mind. There is a strength in unity that doesn't exist in fragmentation and the foreign nations that today are our antagonists know this very well. The greatest benefit I received from my military service (not voluntarily, I confess) over 50 years ago was the working together with people from different parts of the country, city people, country people, those with graduate degrees, those who dropped out of high school, those of different races/ethnic backgrounds, those of different religions and philosophical beliefs. We were all thrown together and HAD to work together. We also knew that we were ONE NATION despite all our differences. Now we mainly focus on our differences which is why I despise the terms blue, red , purple states as if disunion would be the solution to our problems as a nation. It would not be.
