  4. The teacher who said he loved the patois book sounds pretty wet. If I like a book no one is going to tell me that I shouldn't.

  5. Children should be made to follow the rules of their school. That's probably what you call 'forced'. Teach them the rules first (of grammar, of maths, of manners, of whatever) and when they mature they can decide which ones to discard. When they leave school they need never sing the National Anthem again.
