You mean all Asian father and sons are the same? How interesting So father and sons in Uzbekistan, Papua New Guinea, Iran, and Cambodia all behave the same? Because you said Asian, and these are all Asian countries

@hayami9646 A joke has to be based on reality in order to be funny
1
@hayami9646 If the joke is about "one parents", then make it about "some parents" He specifically mentioned "Asian father"
1
@brodypenn A joke has to make sense in the first place
1
@hayami9646 If he was referring specifically to this one particular dad in the video, then why the need to bring up the dad being "Asian"? Obviously he was trying to make a connection with what is perceived to be "Asian" It's not just that it's a generalisation, it's that it's a FAILED generalisation As I said, dads in Uzbekistan, Iran, and Papua New Guinea are all Asians as well - how do they factor into this joke?
1
@testiclevacuumcleaner5703 But are you sure that all Asian parents are strict? Are you familiar with how strict parents are in Uzbekistan, Iran, Cambodia, or Papua New Guinea?
1
@testiclevacuumcleaner5703 A joke has to be based on something factual in order to be funny Which is why I asked, is the OP familiar with the behaviour of fathers in Uzbekistan, Iran, Cambodia, and Papua New Guinea? These are all Asian countries, so do fathers from these countries have a reputation for being strict?
1
@testiclevacuumcleaner5703 Two things One, how do you know chickens don't usually cross the road? Two, "Why did the chicken cross the road" isn't the joke, the joke is in the punchline that follows it
1
@testiclevacuumcleaner5703 You seem to be missing the point In order for a joke to be funny, it has to have some basis in reality, or at least perceived to be so A joke that has no basis in reality is just going to come off as random and confusing
1
@testiclevacuumcleaner5703 And that's exactly the problem You feel because "31% of Asia's population are from China" therefore the terms "Chinese" and "Asians" are interchangeable There are 48 countries in Asia, China is just one of them If you mean Chinese, then say Chinese
1
@testiclevacuumcleaner5703 And I am simply pointing out how silly it is to use the terms "Asians" and "Chinese" interchangeably What exactly is your argument here actually? Are you arguing that "Asians" and "Chinese" are interchangeable?
1
@testiclevacuumcleaner5703 There you go again "Asians are usually depicted to be smart" Show me a depiction of a smart Uzbek, Iranian, Cambodian, and Papua New Guinean please, I would like to understand what you are talking about Also, why are you moving the goal post? I have never said that a joke must suit everyone? Are you confused?
1
@testiclevacuumcleaner5703 No, I am saying that is why the joke doesn't make sense
1
@testiclevacuumcleaner5703 What are you talking about? No one is talking about the relatability of a joke here Why are you trying to move the goal post and change the subject?
