"The rail loop will be the biggest dud in Australia’s history" I disagree. I think it is a good idea. In principle. However, given more pressing requirements, the lack of a proper business case, the cost and level of debt involved, even as someone who thinks it's a good idea, I don't see how it can be justified.

You can bill VicRoads for the costs (if it's a VicRoads road), as long as they were aware of the potholes, but you won't get back the first $1400 of your costs. So unless the damage was worth more than that, tough. It's your problem.

@HelloWorld-ns7gt "Maybe I will lose control next time and smash into a Rolls Royce." Maybe. Or maybe you have very expensive wheels and damage two of them (as I did recently, although not expensive ones).

@VeteranfromOz "Monorail" The big cost will be the tunnelling. Monorails are (or were) fashionable, but don't have a lot (if any) advantage of convention railways.
